A Comparison of the Project Management Methodologies PRINCE2 and PMBOK in Managing Repetitive Construction Projects

Nowadays, companies employ various project management (PM) methodologies to ensure that their projects are effective and successful. It is worth knowing differences in principles processes of PM influence the use different PMs managing non-repetitive repetitive construction projects. This paper presents selection application a rational methodology after comparison two methodologies, namely Project Management Body Knowledge (PMBOK) Projects IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE2). The object this study anti-corrosion works for steel structures conducted at Company X. research was carried out steps. First, quantitative survey respondents from involved execution with aim identify approach PM. questionnaire consisted fourteen closed-ended questions, six which were generic eight PMBOK- PRINCE2-specific questions. Companies took part identified PRINCE2 as most suitable project. Using methodology, would provide much information possible participants, form team assign leaders responsible phases, establish financial plan, detailed timetable works, quality control plan persons, detail technological sequencing works. Second, on pursued, qualitative assessment monitoring trends actions conducted. performed using structured interview method asking representatives X, Y, Z same 15 results showed successful depends size team, tools used, philosophy, frequency discussing progress.
